Justin Fried is not participating in my HMO, much to my disappointment--he sounds wonderful.

The list of dentists in the area that do is too long to post here.

Anyone have any experience with a dentist in the area who is great with kids. I've gotta get the kids in for a check-up and I'm dreading it. I'm hoping to find someone who will make it as painless (in pshycological terms) as possible. I need a cleaning too, so I guess "family friendly" would be a more appropriate term.

Hopefully somebody will name a dentist on my list!

SDouth Orange Dental Center. Drs Rosemond and Strahan(sp) 973-762-2660 opposite Seton Hall. They are both wonderful and she is a kid's dentist. My 21 year old insists still on seeing her as she is wonderful.

My kids both like Margaret McIntyre in Millburn. We used to go to Dr. Kotkin, and he's great. But he wasn't on our plan, and it was getting too expensive. I was dreading switching to someone else, but Dr. M. and the staff are great with my 9- and 4-year-old. She's pulled three of my son's teeth, and he still doesn't mind going back.

Meand -- there is Dr. Richard Eytel in West Orange, who is very nice with kids.

If you are willing to drive a bit, I recommend Dr. Herbert Portnoff in Edison. We go to him -- long story about how we found him -- and he is WONDERFUL.

Our whole family goes to Dr. Frieda Max in Millburn (near Whole Foods). We love her! My 6 year old is so comfortable there that I can book his and my appointment at the same time...he'll just walk right in with the hygenist and I don't have to be there! Dr. Max even has my husband going to her every 6 months, after 10 years of not going at all. The whole staff is nice. Can't say enough about her!

I also recommend Dr. Eytel in WO. My 4 yr old was born with a tooth and he has been great with her from 1 week old. She loves going to the dentist!
