The other day I saw the diet thread and was so pleased that it was back. It's been gone for months. Today it's gone again. Why, Dave?

I always think it's gone too....then I realize I am not logged in!

If you look for it while you are not logged in, you won't see it. I am guessing you are logged in now, since you just posted....
you should see the thread now.

Nope! Logged in? You mean I have to post something first?
I'll check your theory in a few minutes!

Pippi is correct. The dieting section hasn't gone anywhere but you do have to be logged on with your ID and password to see it.

The real question is why this is the only section of the board to be set up this way.

After I posted the above thread, I guess I was logged on. Still can't view the diet thread. What's up?

Until and unless you actually start a new thread, which requires a complete login, the way to view ISP and other threads in that category is to log out, located upper right, and then affirmatively log back in. Don't know why, but that's what you have to do. Probably some security device the brothers Ross have determined to do when they're not moving threads around.

So, Dave, so why the difference in thread access?

When the topic was first started, there was a lot of torture and poking-fun at peoples' personal trials and tribulations.

I actually asked Dave if we could do some sort of "members-only" topic, so that people who were serious and wanted to be candid about their weight loss efforts could feel comfortable. So, the topic is only open to registered users of MOL.

There is a lot of torture and poking fun all over these boards. If we can take shots about ethnicity, political and sexual leanings, why not about weight? I say open it up free willy nilly. Spring and summer are right around the corner and I have to fit into my dominatrix outfit and prepare for my nude trip.

The idea is that people of like minds can share their personal information in a "smaller" setting.

Taking a shot at someone who talks about their frustration with being unable to lose a few pounds, etc. would be a personal attack, now, wouldn't it?

However, any registered user can take any shot they want. Why someone would want to is beyond me. As warped as I am, I really don't have a sense of humor about shots at ethnicity and "sexual leanings". Which, to be honest, I am not sure that I understand. Is that a position involving a wall?

Yes greenetree it involves a wall, aka Pilates for the bored. Purplebug it's really not that hard to log in; check out my prior post. Congrats to all the losers - glad to say I'm a loser too.

Greenetree, I agree with you on all of the above.

As far as those "leanings" -- Purplebug, please elaborate, as that sounds intriguing.

The more I think about it, I realize that sexual "leaning" probably refers to people who are bored with doing it in a bed, but don't have the strength or energy to do it standing without support. Hence, the necessity to lean on something.

It's a bitch getting old....

That section never disappears for me. You folks must be using Internet Exploder or something similarly inferior. Try Opera, downloadable freely at http://www.opera.com. There is a huge difference.

I don't understand why people take pot shots period, but they do. There are shots taken against people who are republicans, against people who are democrats, against different ethnicites and about GLBT gatherings. It hasn't closed discussions, nor has it stopped people from posting. If all that is open, why not weight?

I posted on three different subjects and the IS thread never showed. Then when I posted on a fourth it miraculously appeared. When I last posted on that particular thread I had to sign in about 4 times. That is annoying. Maybe it is just laziness, but all the activity I am using losing weight, I want to be lazy about signing off and on to post.

Leanings may have been the incorrect word. Affiliation? Group?

And other 'sexual leanings' can be a wall, but I prefer sturdy wood furniture. As long as the surface is smooth and you aren't concerned with discoloration.
