I know it's not a uniform, but I can't come up with the appropriate name.

My 7-year-old asked me for one yesterday. He's taking Karate at After School Enrichment. I know they aint' cheap and I'm not particularly interested in buying him one because I know he's not really that serious about it right now. Not to say he may not be sometime in the future, but right now it's just fun.

Anyone have an old one lying around they don't need any more? Anyone know where I might look to buy a gently used one?

I have one. Depending on his size, it might work. I have 2 prs. pants (different sizes) and one top. My son took Karate a couple of years ago. He's 8 now, but he's big for his age. By the way, the name for it is a "gi". I believe you're in the Tuscan area - so am I. If interested, PL me. Glad to help!

Cats, thanks. We are in the "Tuscan area."

Look for that P/L from me!

Actually they are not very expensive when purchased new. A quick search online turned up many places with basic one's for under $20. Local suppliers should have them for around the same price.

Thanks Tom. Who are the "local suppliers" you refer to. Cats has generously offered to give hers to me at no charge, but it seems we may need a belt.

I guess "local" is a subjective term but since these type stores aren't in every town I consider these two to be not too far away. The closest place I can think of is probably in Woodbridge which is about 25 minutes from Maplewood. Here's their link.

This is another place in Emerson that I used to go to way back when I took Karate. It's a bit farther than the one in Woodbridge.

I'm sure if you called a local school they might be able to tell you of someplace closer.

I have also seen them at both Other Mothers and Milk Money. It might be worth a call.
