If I wanted to go to a beach tonite and look at the stars, and maybe share a bottle of wine with my honey, will I be able to or is that illegal? Is there anywhere I can do this? Closest one is appreciated. Suggestions welcome. |

Sandy Hook is closest, nice and quiet, no boardwalk. Then there are towns like Manasquan and Point Pleasant that have a fun boardwalk (although I can't vouch for what may or may not be open) and access to the beach. Unless you're honey is a dog, I doubt it's illegal to be on the beach (some beaches don't allow dogs). If you want to be on most of the beaches during the day in the summertime, you need to pay. But you don't have to pay anything in the off season and/or at night. |

However, there may be some pesky local restraints about "open containers of alcoholic beverages" that someone could bother you with, if he/she had the time or inclination and was driving around in a police cruiser. |

.....after dark. Honestly, I wouldn't worry so much about it. I spent many a summer weekend down the shore in my single days. Didn't seem to me there was much patrolling of the beach after dark--even at the height of the season. Or maybe it was just because they were so busy elsewhere (streets, bars). |

Pour the wine into a styrofoam cup.

Sandy Hook is actually a federal park and alcohol is permitted but glass bottles are not. |
