My wife has a stomach flu and will need help tomorrow during the day to watch our 4 month old (I have a commitment at work I can't get out of).

Any ideas where I can find last-minute baby-sitting help?

I remember being in the same boat once...it was horrible.

I literally laid on the living room floor and let the kid crawl/roll around me for 8 hours. I had a bowl of white rice to eat on the floor next to me but I never got hungry. It was a totally surreal day ...it wasn't impossible to parent our baby but it was really odd being as helpless as she was!

I have been in that situation at least twice and it's AWFUL. My kids were up and running at the time (1 and 4, I think) but at least old enough to watch TV and eat food unassisted. They didn't seem as phased by it as I felt!

Try Totri Day Care in South Orange just off Valley. They do drop in care.

Welcome to the wonderful world of parenthood.

Been there done that, very similarly to what kmk described. Kids were 2 and 4 and I was flat out on the floor most of the time, and the kids did what they did and watched a lot of TV. It really, really sucks. One thing to keep in mind--this too shall pass.

There's an agency called In A Pinch but I'm not sure where they are located. Maybe Morristown.

You may find sitters reluctant to come in your house if a bad case of the flu is afoot. This particular territory is usually better covered by immediate family. But, of course, a lot of us don't have that option.

Good luck. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery.
