I'm all into St. Patty's day and cannot find colored green fruit juice! I've looked in grocery stores and in Target, which has lots of party favors and lots of other colored juice for St. Pats, but nothing green. I thought that Hawaiian Punch made a green juice drink. I would love to serve the kids green juice but I can't even find food coloring to make the juice green! What to do? |

Haven't seen food coloring in years, WendyP! I'm amazed. I usually don't need it, but since green juice is scarce, I figured the kids and I could do it ourselves. Where's all the food coloing?! |

baking section of ShopRite..right near the baking powder and flour and such? PartyCity or other party supply places carry it too sometimes. Or if anyone is in the city, New York Baking Supply Company on 22nd or 21st St off of 6th Ave has every color of food coloring imaginable, including black. I'll be using the green for pancakes Friday. |

Fiood coloring is usually near the spices...I use it for Sunday school and see it all the time. McCormick's makes it and so does Betty Crocker |

Isn't there some green Gatorade? It seems to come in a rainbow of colors. |

I'd bet that Whole Foods has a fruity green drink, that probably is tasty and very healthy too (green b/c of veggies rather than dyes.) But, good luck getting the kids to drink anything green - I know mine won't! There's always lime jello for a sweet green treat. |

Hank, which Shoprite? Millburn or W. Orange? I totally forgot about Whole Foods for the green juice (and perhaps a healthier version), but will check them out. I have seen Gatorade in a "greenish" color, but my kids say it looks more "dark yellow"! Also, any ideas of why food coloring is so limited? When I was younger, it was every where, no matter what the holiday. |

Add blue food coloring to orange juice to turn it green. I speak from experience. It's also fun to color your pancake batter. Oy, the stories I could tell!

Green Machine from one of the juice companies is sold at Whole Foods in the cooler near the checkout counters (on the side nearest the bakery). It is very healthy, or so it says on the label (my kids actually like the taste).

I'm reasonably sure that I have green food coloring - never been used and yours if you want it. I would recommend adding it to white cranberry juice for the kids. Erin go bragh! |

I was just at the Shop Rite in Springfield on Morris Ave/Tpke- and saw the food dye near the spices in the baking aisle. It was on the top shelf and was actually closer to the extracts than the spices...but they were there. (and I noticed that not only did they have regular food color but also had neon colored food color). I remember Hawaiian Punch coming in green back in my children's day.

I think HiC or Hawaiian Punch has a green drink... a check on the shoprite website lists: hawaiian Punch - Green Berry Rush 1 gal, 2.50

Kool-Aid packs definitely have a green flavor. I used to get them at CostCo for my orchestras for after concert parties and for some reason the green was always the last to go. I've also found food dye at Pathmark in town. Anyone remember Ecto-Cooler? |

Green is a VERY uncommon color for food and advertising food. This was a RULE throughout advertising history and only in the last 10-20 years with the emergence of "GROSS OUT" and "EXTREME" foods has this begun to change. This could potentially explain SOME of the issues you are having finding a dearth of green colored drinks and green food coloring possibly. Also just darn interesting IMO. |

Green is an uncommon color for food!? Now I understand your dislike of many vegetables, but lots of us like green food, and there's lots of it. Now blue, THAT'S an unusual food color. How many blue foods are there? I can think of blueberries. What else?!

Ummmmm Tom, I thought I might need to clarify that statement. What I meant was that companies don't often choose the color green when they are choosing what color to make something. For instance. Why is Mountain Dew green colored? There is only water, and artificial flavoring in it. And when produced I'm sure it is clear. Same is true with many of the Gatorade flavors. Understand what I mean now? There has always been the perception in the advertising/food manufacturing industry that green equates to "OFF/Passed Expiration/Moldy/Not quite right" in consumers minds. That perception is slowly changing. |

Blue potatoes. Blue Corn. And while it is made from mold (so possibly not truly fair) Blue Cheese which is certainly food. |
