I found a big black dog wandering around Grove Park in South Orange today, near Seton Hall. Very friendly, clearly somebody's pet, but the phone number on his tag has had no answer and the phone number the humane society has on record for him is now a fax number. Aside from Jersey Animal Coalition, is there somewhere specific someone in this area would look for a lost dog? In other words, other than posting flyers, who can I tell that I have this dog in the hopes of reuniting it with its owners? |

He's not black and white is he? I just came looking for my potentially lost dog. I can't find him and fear he got under our fence. After looking here, my next step is to walk the neighborhood and yell for him, and if THAT doesn't work, I'd put up flyers all over town.... |

Yes, he's got some white. He's a big bulky guy, sort of bull terrier-ish, extremely sweet! What's your dog's name? |

Toby. He's a boston terrier, pushed in nose, big pointy ears, about 18 lbs. |

CJH, If this isn't Elizabeth's dog, is there enough info on the tag to call around to vets and see if you can match dog with owner? Also, you can post a found dog on pets911.com. Otherwise, there's no clearinghouse, only footwork. When I lost my dog, I tried the shelters and animal control departments of all surrounding towns. |

Sorry Elizabeth, this guy's way more than 18 pounds (though now I'm worried about your Toby, too). Luckily I just finally got through to someone at that phone number, so this runaway dog has gone back home. |

Oh good - I'm glad he found his home. I keep thinking Toby will just appear in the garden bed next to the house (his favorite place to sunbathe). As soon as the kids naps are over I'm going to go out walking. |

well, I'm off to post fliers of my own. A girl downtown thought he might have been up by the middle school. |
