I'm posting this again (previously posted in the South Orange Specific site) because I'm completely freaked out. This a.m., we were outside, and our dog somehow got out of the yard and is now missing. He's a black & white boston terrier, about 19 pounds, neutered male, likes to sit in the sun and chase balls. We got a report that he may have wandered to Ridgewood Road. I've called all the local animial control offices, NJ Animal Coilition, etc. I think he has his collar on which has his rabies tag from IL and probably our MA contact information. If you've seen him, please email me - he's on special food, and is a pretty scaredy-cat dog. He's not vicious, but can growl if played with too rough. |

That's so great! MOL has been a boon to the Maplewood/South Orange pet population! |

Elizabeth, he's back home safe and sound? He is gorgeous. My family has always had Boston terriers. The males can be very high-spirited but they are great, affectionate dogs with real personality. Your Toby sounds like a typical specimen -- they love to lie in the sun, even on 90 degree days; they love to play with balls; they can have delicate stomachs; and they can be wary of strangers and new situations. Please do yourself a favor and get Toby an ID tag with your current home contact info, just in case he decides to go sightseeing again! |

Yeah - the new id tag has just jumped over the 50 other things on my To Do list (like actually finding the DMV and changing my plates to NJ). He just never goes anywhere. He's always harassing us to toss the ball for him when we're outside. Which is why I was so confused when we couldn't find him. it sounds like he was headed towards town trying to find us. I counted heads (kids and dog) and when I couldn't find him, headed into the house to check all his usual haunts. Because of the move, he's skittish sometimes. We couldn't find him one night, and he was under our bed. The last time we moved, he freaked out about something (I think it was a thunderstorm) and ended up hiding in the shower. now THAT one took a while to figure out. So after I checked all his usual places, and all the random scared-puppy places, THAT'S when I started to get really worried. Call it mommy intuition, but I just KNEW that he wasn't in the house or the yard. I just KNEW he'd gone looking for us. And having read a couple of months ago about someone who lost their wedding rings on the train platform - and someone FOUND them, I KNEW he'd be found. But man o man that is never a stress I want to go through again! |
