I know there are folks here who change their username almost as often as they change their underwear. I checked in "My Profile" and it ain't there, so how the heck do I change it? |

Change your username? You can't! it'll change everything. If you do this, try not to use something with "straw" in it. J.B. |

Lucy, It's really me, Jersey Boy. I was just pretending to be Monster. But I have the power to show dancing bloo. Monster gave it away when hee became a creepy quarter horse.
If you search, you too, can have a dancing bloo. J.B. I guess I do a pretty good impression of Monster. |

I mentioned on another thread that my daughter and I wrote a story a few years ago about a character called Bloo the Alien. However, he didn't look like that. He was brown and had antennae. He had a flying chair that could talk, and that changed colors depending on its mood (it was prone to crying fits). He also had a pet flying lion, about the size of a collie dog, and a pet dragon. The first installment in the Bloo stories began with Bloo appearing on Earth and discovering a despondent real estate agent who couldn't sell a house, so Bloo bought it and moved in with his entourage. We had a lot of fun writing it. I probably still have some of our illustrations around some place. |

You're all a bunch of big fat meanies, teasing me like that! Besides, it was Friday night after a long and tiring week and I had several glasses of wine in me. So the answer really wasn't all that obvious, O.K.! If only I could find one of those little emoticons that was sticking out it's tounge at all of you. |

So now we have Wendy L (wendy), Wendy N (wendyn) and Wendy P. I notice it's every other letter. Who's next, Wendy R?

doulamomma, I have it on the best of authority that each one of the Wendys are great people, smart women and fantastic mothers. Isn't that all you really need to know? Seriously, while I think we differ in some of our opinions, you can treat us as a fungible commodity as far as I'm concerned. (Oh, and the cell phone example was just picked out of the air - I hope you're not mad.) Wendy (just plain Wendy because I was here first) |

When I was growing up I only have a vague recollection of ever knowing one other Wendy. I think she was in my Sunday school class when I was in grade school. In Maplewood (and surrounding environs) I know of 2 on this board, at least 4 personally IRL, one of whom is a good friend, and am aware of a few others that I've never actually met. When I first registered on MOL, I tried to use Wendy but, obviously, it was already taken. Curiously, I know of no contemporaries of my children who have the name. |

Yes, I think it's fallen out of style. I hear the name was invented by the author of Peter Pan. Is that true? I know a Wendy married to a Peter! I hardly met anyone named Tom when I was a kid, but now we're everywhere. I work on a floor with only about 20 people, and there are three Toms and three Mikes. And we are Tom O, Tom Q, and Tom R, so we need a Tom P to complete the sequence.

So Wendy (P) do you like your name? I had the same experience growing up as you do - only vaguely having one other kid with that name who was my contemporary. I found that to be special and was quite adamant when it came time to pick a child's name. While my husband was perfectly happy with what I considered common names, I was searching for the name like Wendy - not too common but not so unusual that people would go Huh - and ask how to spell it. Now you, me and Wendyn really have to get together and go watch Peter Pan or something. |

I've never really given any thought to whether I "like" my name or not. But I certianly don't dislike it. I think I liked the fact that I was always the only Wendy, and now I'm kind of enjoying this whole new community of Wendy's I've found here. I get a real kick out of calling the Wendys I know on the phone and saying "Hi Wendy, it's Wendy!" Even better, "Hi Wendy, it's Wendy, have you spoken to Wendy?" I always hated my middle name, but now I've grown used to it and find it a bit quirky, and actually ended up keeping it after I was married. Yes, Tom, I heard that about the name Wendy too. And I'm pretty sure if you look it up on one of those books of names and what they mean, you'll find that written down as fact. Funny about your name, Tom. Seems like I've always known Toms, and now I'm married to one, although he's actually a Tomas, but everyone always wants to spell it with an H.

Wendy (no initial) - no worries - was never mad at all over the cell phone example! I only know one Wendy IRL (though I generally talk to here & had been calling her Meand...) now, though I knew one in about 4th grade...and one friend in college was Wendy...I know a lot of Kims & none of them are babies...At some point in the future there are going to be lots of grandmas named Kim & Wendy - wonder what names babies will have be then - maybe Kim or Wendy? |

Wendy R!?!? James M. Barry says no because you ascribed too much creatively to him. Of course you can join but you'll have to check with the other gals from Neverland. doula, we sort of know each other since we both know cynicalgirl. That's something, isn't it? I think I met WendyP as well; we live near each other. I still like meandtheboys as a moniker, but that's just me (with one boy). |

I met Wendy P (and Tomas) on Maplewood Ave today. Then Lydia walked by me, but I didn't realize who she was until she was gone. Oh, and before all that, while I was cycling home from the swamp, I saw Dave Ross driving his car on Parsonage Hill Rd in Shawt Hilce. It was a big MOLer spotting day today.

I saw Straw (whatever else he's calling himself today) and Straw Jr. in Memorial Park, but I don't think he knows who I am, unless he somehow made the connection that I was with all (but one) of the boys: my husband, three sons and the male dog (male cat stays home). Is MOL spotting like train spotting? And I wouldn't know Dave if I fell over him. But Lydia's daughter and my son are now apparently "an item!" And I always wanted doula to help me birth my babies, but could never afford her. And I saw Wendy(no last initial)'s son in the 'hood yesterday. He's a cutie, and I'm thinking he should come show my boys how to skateboard. So, potentially, any day of the week, any place, could work out to be an MOL F2F. And the reason I decided to change my "screenname" is because people who know me IRL keep telling me they know I am Meandtheboys on MOL--as if I was somehow trying to hide, when I really wasn't at all. It's just, like I said, when I tried to register as Wendy, it was already taken (because she was here first). (Yeah, I know, boring!) |
