I'm thinking about swtiching from comcast cable (TV), verizon DSL (internet) and verizon (phone) to Optimum Online (IO Digital Cable--$29 for each for one year). Does anyone have any experience or comments on which is best? It is cheap but I'm sure after the year it goes up quite a bit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but... All of those IO products are supplied by Cablevision. If your cable company is Comcast, I think you're out of luck. Jim |

I was thinking the same thing. I don't believe you have a choice. If you have Comcast, I don't think you can get any of the IO products. |

If comcast is your provider, and you have cable internet, you can consider Vonage as an alternative for your phone service. I was paying over $90/month between DSL and my phone line. I now have a cable modem and Voange. I was able to keep my phone number and I use their value package of 500 minutes per month for $14.99 with 10 cents per minute for any overage. I haven't gone over the 500 minutes though. My cable is $39 per month so I saved almost $40 per month. |

I have been using Vonage for phone now for about six weeks (I use Comcast for cable). So far, so good. I get unlimited phone for $24.99 per month. So far, the phone has only gone down when I had to reboot my wireless router and temporarily lost Internet service. Otherwise, it's awesome. Best of all was giving the boot to MCI. |
