Ariyoshi in South Orange is much better than Samurai Sushi, though I don't know if they do takeout plus they're not in Millburn. Just had to put in a good word for it though. |

There's also Sono in Millburn. A little less casual than Samurai...and very good sushi. |

Ariyoshi is better than Samurai? I will have to try it. Still haven't found better than Nikko on Route 10 but the schlep and the wait usually aren't worth it. |

If I remember correctly, I noticed yet another Japanese place in Millburn in the former My Favorite Muffin space. Can one town really support 3 japanese places? Then again I guess the same could be said for Maplewood and nail salons. |

Definitely try Ariyoshi. I really think it is a cut above. |

I LOVE Ariyoshi also (and I am a big Nikko fan since it's close to my office). We went to Ariyoshi for the first time recently and it reminded me of our favorite Montclair sushi place, Dai Kichi. I think there is some connection - must be, because the menu is so similar - same yummy sushi rolls, same names! Enjoy! |

Ariyoshi is great; Sono in Millburn is also quite good. Don't forget Hara on Academy in South Orange. |

The new place being constructed in the My Favorite Muffin space across from the Millburn train station is called "Sakura".

We patronize Sono, Ariyoshi, and Samurai, and in our humble opinions, we like Sono's cooked food best, if that's what you're looking for. They are also very welcoming. Ariyoshi has the BEST salad dressing. Samuari, to me, is a definite third, although they're convenient. Our kids like Samurai for sushi. |

So--for reasons, I'm still not clear on--we ended up ordering from Samurai. It was ok--I was pretty much underwhelmed. I will be trying one of the others next time. Thanks for your replies! |
