A friend of mine is thinking about buying a condo there.

Can anyone tell me something about the Village Mews condos in South Orange? Since it is near to the train station, how bad is the noise from the trains? Are there many college kids living there? Is it a quiet place?

Thanks!

I lived in the Mews from 1996 to 1998 as a renter. The noise from the trains is really not bad, despite the proximity to the train station. It never bothered us. I don't believe many college kids live there but you'd have to check with someone who lives there now. All the units have a very pretty view of the landscaped area in the center of the complex.

I currently own/live in the Village Mews and have for the past 4 years or so. You can't hear the train except for the train whistle at times. I have not seen any college kids here at all. It is a nice mix of families, retirees and singles. It is quiet, private and quaint. You can't beat the convenience to the train and the village. They are also in the process of building a movie theatre and arts center next to train.
