For many things, go to Springfield. Straight down Valley to a right onto Morris ave and then the 2nd left.

Insert a step into LibraryLady's instructions. Go down Valley until it ends, and turn right onto Springfield. After it goes over I-78, turn right at (I think) the second light, onto Morris. Make the first right onto Hannah St.

FYI. Last time i was at Springfield DMV (maybe dec. 05?), they did not accept credit card payment. Only cash or check. I've had WONDERFUL (the best ever for a DMV) people help me there and a few MISERABLE (typical DMV) "assist" me. I'd go back anyway because there are hardly ever lines.

Yes, I'm sure.

The yellow street on the top of this map running east-west is Morris Ave. You'll be coming from the east, i.e. the right edge of the map.

The Springfield DMV is pretty good. Was in & out w/my new DL in less than 20 minutes.

The way I go is Valley to Springfield Av (by the Home Depot) follow it around to Morris Ave and take a right onto Morris (at the CVS) then turn left at the light past the little strip mall then a right into the parking lot.

You can't take the eye test at Springfield--found that out after spending an entire morning there.

I always thought that you had to go to a DMV in your county, which is why we've gone to one off Springfield across from a bus station in Irvington. Can you renew your license at a DMV in Union if you live in Essex?

You can go to the DMZ (Freudian slip) in any county. Just make sure they provide the services you want. The one in Newark is the closes and most comprehensive I believe (inspection, testing, licensing, etc.) aside from the Wayne Regional Service Center (a nightmare).

Not to nitpick, but it's actually right on Morris, left on Mountain, and THEN right on Hannah. Or, more directly, ust right on Morris, left on Center. Municipal parking lot will be on your left.

And you can conduct business at any MVS (aka DMV) in the state, no need to stay in your home county.

Any rec on which one is best for transfering a license from another state. I assume a written test and eye exam will be required.

Newark is the closest one for the eye exam. Just make sure you bring all of the required documentation or you will have to come back.

I've been going to Springfield DMV for years. Was there this week to renew my license. Parked my car at 8:04am. Back in my car by I think it was 8:20am.
