Does anyone know anything about either of these towns? A friend is considering relocating to either of these towns, but doesn't have much information on the area, and neither do I. Thanks! |

Be careful where you buy in Wayne. Parts of it flood regularly. It also depends on what part of Wayne your friend buys in. Waynr is very big, some areas are very wealthy. If you know the area your friends are looking, I can ask my psedo brother in law about it. He knows Wayne pretty good because he use to live there. |

Wayne over Franklin I'm from Sussex County. Just trust me, Wayne is a better choice, probably will cost you more, but will be better. Unless she prefers a more rural lifestyle, go with Wayne. There's more to do, there's more going on, there's more opportunities. PL me if you want to talk more! |

I lived in Wayne for a few years. Yes, be mindful of the flood area. Positives: Overall, nice town, great schools, diverse religious community. Cons: No direct train line, depending on where in Wayne, not that close to highways. Though I think these features get you more house for the money |

Wayne is very, I don't know, "Jersey", in a way that Maplewood isn't. Big, spread out, lots of strip malls, not charming, no real downtown. These things won't matter to everyone, of course, but personally I wouldn't be too keen on settling there. Are the schools really that great? |

I grew up in Wayne...Mom, cousins, best friend, etc...still live there, so I'm in Wayne frequently. Yes, the schools are great, as are the recreational opportunities for kids (and adults)...(The 4th of July fireworks are the best you'll see anywhere!!!) Yes, it's a big town that is spread out, but there are communities within the town, especially on the lakes (Packanack Lake and Pines Lake...both very beautiful places to live) The only place that floods is the Mountain View section which is extremely small and really out of the way from anything else in Wayne (it's the only place that people see on the news...so don't base any opinions on it) Hmmm...what else? I'm sure the homes are expensive these days, but there is so much variation in size and style that I'm sure there's a huge variation in prices, too. There are 2 high schools Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills. I had a great experience at Valley. OK..don't know what specifics you're interested in, feel free to PL me if you think I can help you. |

I grew up in Wayne as well. Spent 22 years there. I agree with Amy. I went to Wayne Hills. |

I work in the Wayne area and have colleagues who have relocated and settled there, and they have mixed feelings about it. Some of it may simply be the suburbanness of the area, and the lack of a real downtown. One colleague moved there with his wife, and while it does have a community sense, they find it simply too homogenous, as they are a mixed couple. Thus far they haven't been impressed with the schools, but that is just kindergarten so they may be jumping the gun-- |

Second the point that Wayne is so big and spread out that there are communities within it. I live in South Orange, and yes, there's a downtown, but my personal point of view is that unless you're in walking distance, you still have to get in a car. That being said, when you're talking about all the benefits of having a downtown area, I believe it's overated. Plus, parking is often a hassle and confusing. On the other hand, a downtown area is much more aesthetically pleasing than a typical strip mall. |

Mr. Zach Williams: are you the zach williams that lived on Valley in that strip of brick apartment buildings? I remember you. I lived next door and played those poker games...you were always asking if you could play, but we kept telling you no. Then, you freaked out and called the police...thinking they would arrest us for playing poker. You are funny. Glad to see if you are doing well and living in South Orange. Watch this guy everyone, he is crazy! |

Umm...no...and by the way, ASR, are you obsessed with me? You seem to be trailing me all over this board. Go play with your fancy kids in your fancy boy kitchen with the Minnesota Viking stove and subterrain fridge. Scram! |

About Wayne, as elementary schools go, and I am familiar with them currently, I would recommend the John F. Kennedy School. Really nice, diverse neighborhood, great faculty. |
