I need to rent a nice room with a piano for an afternoon for my daughter's solo violin recital. Reeves Reed Arboretum and the Madison library are booked up...any suggestions? |

The Woman's Club in Maplewood? Winchester Gardens has a beautiful old "living room" where my kid's violin teacher held a recital. The residents were in the audience along with the students' family members. |

Church, and perhaps temple, sanctuaries generally have excellent acoustics. And possibly better prices?? I know someone planning to rent the sanctuary of the Unitarian Church in Summit for her music students. But, as MJC points out, the Winchester Gardens room is absolutely lovely. Check it out before going elsewhere. Think deep paneling, immense fireplaces, etc. And some plush seating. You can probably serve wine afterwards. It's a lovely place for a reception. |

I believe Millburn Library has a room upstairs with a stage and a piano. |

The Montclair Art Museum has a wonderful concert space. It's probably expensive to rent, though. |
