Saturday afternoon we discovered 3 adorable little kittens under the front steps of our house. . .the next morning I went to check on them and there were 5! Their eyes are open, but they are tiny. I haven't seen mama-cat, but we do have several kitties that live and hang out in our area. What should I do? |

Call the JAC and ask. They need to be with their mother for a certain number of weeks, but if they aren't socialized at the right time, you'll have at least 5 more feral cats in your neighborhood! Ideally, you'll catch/trap the mother and then take all the kittens with the mother to the JAC. Then, they will spay the mother when it is safe for the nursing kittens and at least be able to place the kittens in loving homes. |

You could probably get a look at her right now if you want to try to identify her - I'd bet she's keeping her kittens warm since its a chilly night! Maybe try to snap a photo with a digital camera and a flash. |

you shouldn't touch the kittens yet, as the mother might smell that someone strange touched them and reject them. |
