Has anyone purchased tires from tirerack.com? Who installs them for you?

Yes, a few times. I usually hire an independent garage to install them. My ex-wife once made the mistake of bringing them to a tire shop. I think they resented the loss of a sale, so they charged her a bit too much in labor.

Yes, they were delivered quickly and were already balanced. I put them on myself, but most service stations will charge a mounting fee of $10 for each tire. Even so, you will still save significantly over what you would pay locally.

yes, great service. Autotech on Springfield Ave is a certified installer for Tirerack.

Order your tires, have then shipped right to Autotech. They mounted/balanced mine for about $65, couldn't have been easier.

(btw, there are other certified installers in the area, I've used Autotech a few times now, very positive each time).

Pete

I purchased two sets and had them mounted at Quality Auto.

--Delivered in one day at cheaper price than any advertised prices.
However, I recommend looking online and then order by telephone rather than internet. The telephone reps. can guide you beyond the internet.

We have used Tire Rack for several years. The tires arrive packaged with cardboard and plastic strapping. You can either order them with rims or without. They have some very nice, cool rims which I got for my BMW station wagon. Maplewood tire installed them for $20.00 for the 4 of them. If they had to be put on existing rims then there was an extra charge. All in all a very pleasant experience all around. You can put your car on the computer screen and it shows you what they look like on your car. Cool!

Thanks so much for everyone's response!
- Is Quality Auto a certified tirerack installer too? Where are they located?
- Maplewood tire didn't mind installing tires bought from somewhere else?

We used Tire Rack last December. They shipped the tires directly to Autotech on Springfield Ave. The shipping was about $34. We ordered rims from a different vendor, had them shipped home and then brought to Autotech. Autotech was accomodating when there was a delay in delivery of the rims (one of the rims came damaged and had to be exchanged). The installation was about $100. It looks like the installation prices vary.

No Maplewood Tire didn't say a word about tires coming from elsewhere. I also buy my eyeglass frames at TJ Maxx and Marshalls on the sunglass rack. Like Donna Karan and other better quality for $12.99 then pop out the lenses and have my optometrist put my prescription clear glass lenses in them.

Actually before and after. I always have my snows and regulars changed as the season requires and the old guy and the new guys were equally accomodating.
