Odd question:

A friend was teaching me a particular crochet stitch yesterday. She kept calling it a "picket" stitch.
Turns out she was really teaching me a "picot" stitch.

I believe this is pronounced "pee-coh". She thinks it's pronounced "pickot".

thanks!

If it's of French origin (like tricot), you're right. Unless it's some Brits who insist on Anglicized.

Pee-coh says las. As does my Random House College Dictionary.

If you were doing a picket stitch does that mean you were crotchetting?

Hey!, I've been trying unsuccessfully to teach myself to crochet. And by trying I mean bought a couple books, spent a few nights making snarly messes and then leaving said mess and books in a closet for about 4 months

How bout an impromtu lesson... say tomorrow night???

Despite the fact that I keep my wife in stitches, she frequently accuses me of being crochety. What a knitpicker.
