Hello fellow dog owners (particularly dog officianados). I am considering kenneling my 1 year old dog (a cockapoo) this summer when we go on vacation. Any thoughts on: A.) If you think this is a good idea or not and B.) If so, any reccomendations. All thoughts and opinions welcome. Thank you! |

A) What are the other alternatives? I don't see why kenneling your pup would be a problem though. B) We use preferred pet care. A tad more expensive, but the dogs get their own room with sofa's (if requested) and they get doggie play times where they get to run around with the other dogs. Good luck! |

An alternative is people who take dogs in the home. I just found out that the woman I use is doing it legally, so I can list her here. She picks up and drops my dog off. Courtney Huther lillnj@optonline.net

We take Parker to a kennel instead of leaving him at someone’s home, and feel more comfortable. Kennels are run by professionals and it’s a structured environment. This way we don’t have to worry about some one feeding him from the table, letting him chew on an old slipper, or bite windows (His new favorite, think nails on a chalk board). We’re also comfortable that they have emergency plans incase a dog gets hurt. It’s not that a friend / family member has bad intentions, but they’re trying to make the pup happy, some times at a detriment to the puppy’s training. We use Camp Bow Wow and really like it. The dogs have two play areas and spend ½ hour inside and then ½ outside, they have and hour lunch and then back to playing. At 5 the dogs get Yappy Hour with the camp counselors and pre approved treats. They also let you bring a few toys for the dogs cabin at night.

We use Camp Bow Wow in Bridgewater a(www.campbowwowusa.com) s our backup for when Preferred Pet Care (www.preferredpetcare.com) is booked. Both are excellent with the dogs. And to call us protective would be an understatement.
