Sample culinary creations and select wines & meet nationally recognized cookbook authors.

Participating restaurants run the gamut from four-star establishments to neighborhood bistros. To date, the lineup includes: The Dining Room at Hilton Short Hills, Cent’ Anni, St. James’s Gate Publick House, Terra, Papillion 25, Burnet Barbeque, Food of Our Own Design, Bella Italia, Cranes Deli & Cheese Shoppe, Heart & Soul, La Strada, Neelam, New World Catering, and Pal’s Cabin. Wines have been hand-picked by Maplewoodian, Hank Zona, proprietor of “Swirl,” a company specializing in wine tastings, classes and events.

Also part of the evening’s festivities include Rick Rodgers and Linda Eckhardt. Rodgers is a recipient of the Bon Appétit Food and Entertaining Award for Outstanding Cooking Teacher. He has authored over 25 cookbooks including several titles in the Williams-Sonoma cookbook series. A number of his projects are the recipients of James Beard and IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) Cookbook Awards. Ms. Linda Eckhardt is a respected food writer whose work has appeared in a variety of national magazines. She is the author of sixteen cookbooks including Bread in Half the Time which won the IACP’s Julia Child Award for Best Book of the Year. Entertaining 101, co-authored with her daughter, Katherine Defoyd, received the prestigious James Beard Award for Best Entertaining Cookbook. These titles and a variety of other cookbooks will be available for purchase throughout the night, courtesy of Goldfinch Books of Maplewood.

The proceeds will directly benefit one of the Lions Club’s local initiatives – spearheading the purchase of defibrillators for each school in the district.
