So I have to go to a 2 day training seminar in NY on Tuesday. I would like to take the jitney to the train & then ferry/subway or whatever to get to this location. First question, what do you need to do to ride the jitney for just 2 days? Second, once I'm at the station which train/ferry or subway combination will get me to this spot? Thanks. |

Can't help you with the jitney, but once you are on the train you have a few options. You can take the train to Hoboken and a ferry to Pier 11 or from Hoboken you can take the PATH train to the WTC. Lastly you can take the train to Penn Station and take the 1/9 subway to South Ferry. Hope that helps. |

You can pay, I believe, one buck per ride on the jitney. Just have exact change. Either the Ferry to Pier 11 or the PATH will work for you. Walk up or down Wall Street until you reach Broad Street. |

The ferry takes longer and is more expensive, but is a whole lot more pleasant. Your call. |

Definitely go through Hoboken. If you decide to take the Midtown Direct train (better schedule for when you seminar starts/ends perhaps?) you would want to get off the subway at Rector Street rather than South Ferry. It would be much closer to where you are going. As others have said, either the PATH or the Ferry (to Pier 11 not the World Financial Center) should work well. Suggestion: Go to an on-line directions site and print out a map of 90 Broad Street and the surrounding area so you will have a clear idea of where you are going once you get off the subway, PATH or ferry. For example: Broad Street may intersect with Wall Street but Wall Street is not readily locatable from the PATH Station or the Rector Street subway stop. |

I think you should drive in and double-park. Leave your flashers on and it'll be OK. |

Ok, so lets say I take the PATH from Hoboken. It's a 9AM seminar. How much time would I need allow to get from Maplewood train departure to arrival at 90 Broad Street. Don't worry about factoring in all the algabreic variables like how fast the trains go & how fast I walk. I'll calculate that aspect. Thanks. PS. Dogbert, I don't think you want me driving into the city. Back in college I did that in my brother's old car & got too close to the wall in the Lincoln Tunnel. Screwed up the alignment & got stuck in the tunnel of course causing a back up. The funniest part of all of this was when people kept shouting at me to move my car like I had just decided to stop there & inhale car exhaust for fun. |

I suggest taking the mid-town direct into Penn Station and then taking the subway. Whenever I need walking or subway/bus directions in NYC I always use http://www.hopstop.com/ which gives you exact directions either via subway or bus to your destination. I'm an avid subway rider, so I always recommend the subway as there is much less chance of getting stuck in traffic. Good Luck. Brooklynlady |

Go to Hoboken. Be sure to check the correct schedule since there is a schedule change effective 4.23.06. Hopefully, both schedules are posted on the NJT website. A nice thing about the NJT schedule is that it also includes scheduled departure times for connections to PATH and WFC ferry (but not the ferry for Pier 11 unfortunately). Under the current schedule, you would need to take the 7:19 AM train from Maplewood (7:23 AM from South Orange) which arrives in Hoboken at 7:56 AM and connect with the 8:07 AM PATH train to the World Trade Center which arrives at the World Trade Center at 8:18 AM which would give you more than enough time to make the ten minute or so walk to 90 Broad Street, which is just a few blocks from the WTC station. If you can be a few minutes late, you could take the following Hoboken train (8:01 AM from Maplewood) which gets into Hoboken at 8:37 AM and connect with the 8:49 AM PATH train which gets to WTC at 9:00 AM. Depending on the Pier 11 schedule (check Waterways' website) you might be able to make it in time from the later train if the connecting ferry has a better schedule.

I commute into 125 Broad Street often. You can certainly take the train into Hoboken and then switch to the Ferry. It's the most civilized way to do it, but also the most expensive by a couple of bucks, which shouldn't be an issue if this is a one (or two) time thing. The walk from Pier 11 to 90 Broad St would only be about 5-10 minutes, max. You can also take the train to Hoboken, and then switch to the PATH. This is actually my least preferred option. Just the walks through the Hoboken terminal, and then through the WTC station to the street, are longer than you'd think. And then the walk from the WTC PATH station down to 125 Broad (which looks to be about 2 blocks south of 90 Broad) is a good 15 minutes. If it's chilly out, it's not that fun. If it's windy out, it's ridiculous. What i usually do is take the 7:39 into Penn Station NY, and then take the 1 subway line to South Ferry. (Per Joan's comment, you can get off at the Rector St. stop which is the one before South Ferry. Looking at a map, it appears that 90 Broad St is actually in the middle of the two.) If you don't get a seat right away, you'll surely have one after the first or second stop, and you can sit the whole way down. I typically arrive at South Ferry by 8:45, which will give you just enough time to get out, grab a coffee, and get to your seminar by 9am. And if for some reason your NJ Transit train to NY gets in late, you can take the 2/3 express subway (although you'll probably have to stand) down to Chambers St, and then switch to the 1 train, and buy yourself about 5-10 minutes.
