Definitely call for back up. Possum, skunk and ground hog all like garages.

Do you see poop? That can help identify the type of resident. Does the noise stop when you enter the garage? I'd still call for back-up, but if the noise doesn't stop when you come in, you could be looking at baby somethings and a protective mom.

Kevin Williams in Scotch Plains is our exterminator and I find him to be pretty reasonable. I think our rat problem was less than $150.

Call Jerry at Buckingham Pest Control - Wellesley Road Maplewood - sorry don't have the number to hand. VERY quick, VERY good pricing and very honest, he will not make you pay for something/do something that isn't required.

You will probably have to leave a message and shortly after that they will call.

I have used them for carpenter ants, termit check, racoons, groundhog and other stuff and recommended them without reservation.

Good luck with the critter...

thanks guys. i will make a call & hopefully have this taken care of.

greenetree, i didn't see any poop, but there could definitely be some behind all the garage-garbage.

libertarian, i hope you were comfortable. can you keep the racket down a bit next time?
