I am looking for a seamstress to alter my bridal gown. I don’t trust the salon that I got it from and now have to find someone trustworthy of altering a ball gown. Does anyone know of a local seamstress who is up for the challenge? |

YES - without a doubt. With something like this, I always believe in having a meeting to "sound things out". I didn't know Hediye until I was given a recommendation, and I am so happy that I made the call. |

Yes, she is incredibly detail-oriented. Her home/workshop is spacious (considering what I have seen in some places) and meticulously clean. She is very responsive and professional. I would trust a wedding dress with her over a shop any day. |

I'll second (or is it third) the recommendations for Hediye. I only have brought one thing to her - it was a men's coat which needed a new collar because the old one was suede and was oil stained. She shopped for the perfect material (a beautiful brown corduroy which complemented the jacket color) and did a perfect job replacing the collar. It now washes well and looks better than the original. Once you meet her and find out her background and the following she has from loyal past customers where she used to live, you will and should feel fine trusting your wedding dress to Hediye. She's great! (No I'm not related or share in a commission. I just really like her.)

Mplwdrez - Hediye did my wedding dress last year and the alterations were fairly complicated. She essentially took the whole bodice apart and put it back together again. Her work was flawless. |

Thank you all for your input. The dress is a ball gown and needs to be taken apart to be altered and as you can imagine I’m nervous to have just anyone do it. Seeing that sooo many of you have suggested Hediye, I will have to call her to discuss my dress specifications. Would you say that she is very expensive? I’m guessing that most bridal alterations are close to $200. Does she take a long time to work, due to complexity of the job? |

All I can tell you is that I am personally VERY impressed with her work, speed of work, LISTENING to my requirements, her ability to work on jobs that I thought could never be done, and I have always found her to very fair on the pricing. She is a lovely lady and I am sure she will put you at ease, and being the professional that she is she will never do a substandard job, it's not in her nature. She also makes a good cup of coffee..... |

Ooooh Soparents, I'm envious. I didn't have the pleasure of Hediye's coffee - just a wonderful conversation about our different cultures. Was it Turkish coffee perchance? |
