Can anyone help me in finding a really good cigar store in or around Maplewood / SO?

I am not looking for a regular liquor store that sells cigars....I want a full blown tobacconist / cigar store where you can get quality cigars, accessories (hygrometers, humidors, etc) and recommendations.

Appreciate your help / input. Cheers

There is Florez in Summit or J&R on Rt 10 in E. Hanover(?). Call Rich. He's the cigar expert. He gets his shipped from Amsterdam. PL us for the info. Oh, there's also a place on Stuyvesant Ave in Union.

Not in MW/SO, but without a doubt, head over to JR's on RT 10 in Whippany. They say that they are the largest store in the world:

http://www.jrwhippany.com/

They have a lounge, bar, and serve food. I wonder if you are still allowed to smoke within the place?!?

Also a wine shop, fragrance shop, and men's emporium...

If you really need MW/SO, there was a store on South Orange Ave in between the Bank of America and the Bagel store that had a walk in humidor in the back. They were a convenience store when they opened, now I think that they might sell toys (and cigars).

Just another vote for J&R.. the place is great!

Take 24 west to 287 north to rt 10 east, it's on the right.

Or, take south orange ave to Eisenhower Parkway to rt 10 west, make a u-turn in Whippany.

Florez in Summit if you want a handfull. The owners are Columbian and they have their own cigars. Also, on Bloomfield Ave. in Verona, across from Home Liquor, I think the name is Thee Tabacco Shoppe or some other old spelling.

If you want to buy a box or two, go to Route 10. It's a giant warehouse that's humidified. It smells like cigars and every once in a while steam shoots out from up above. You'll feel like you're in the Dominican Republic, or Cuba.

For a more local hygrometer, or lighter, you can go to "The White Ash" in Springfield. Just drive past Home Depot and take a right on Morris Ave. It's on the left. He's has more accoutrement than good cigars at his point. But, he's got the stuff you might need: ashtrays, lighters, cutters. I've been trying to support his business.

Also, in Montclair, "Fume." I haven't been, but I've heard people talk about it.

I went to a place in Newark, Q Cigars (162 Lafayette St). Hand rolled fresh Domincans. Reasonably priced too. they will even make a custom blend for you.

I believe that J&R still has their smoking room open. They should be exempt from the anti-smoking law ("smoking club").

I am not a cigar smoker, but my dear significant other Mr Zoesky1 enjoys a good stogie, and yes, J&R is apparently the place to go. In the winter, when there's no golf to play, he's all about hanging out there with his golf buddies. It is exempt from the smoking ban.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Smokers Delight on Stuyvesant Ave, yet. You will allways be able to smoke in a cigar shop (just not in the humidor). I don't know of anything closer than Smokers Delight, though. From Maplewood it's takes me about 10 minutes.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Don't tell my wife......

I actually did mention Smokers Delight but did know the name, just the location.
They really are the closest and nicest people. (You must bathe, floss, brush and wash your clothes if your wife doesn't know)
