Bring your family to the CHS Student parking lot [across from Gleasons Cleaners] from 9 AM-3 PM. The parents of this CHS club are hosting a fundraising event to send our kids to regional and national competitions.

Activities include:
Multi-family garage sale
Ultimate Frisbee clinics at noon, 1:00 & 2:00
Bake sale
Sale of t-shirts and discs

Ultimate Frisbee began in 1968 on the very spot where our fundraiser will take place. We receive no funding from the school district.

It sounds great; we'll be there.

Is it true that Ultimate Frisbee started in NJ? How cool is that!

I would need to do some research, but I don't think Ultimate Frisbee started in NJ.
I did read that article in the Ledger a few weeks back, so I could be wrong. Sorry, I can't do the leg work, but I can challenge the statement. I was playing ultimate back in high school in Brooklyn at Marine Park back in the 70s, so I know it's at least that old. Prove me wrong, I'm 'listening' .

Not only in NJ, but at CHS.

Joel Silver [yes, the movie producer] was one of the first to play at Columbia HS. He was in the class of 1969.

And a pretty successful one, too.
Remember the Matrix trilogy?
He's THAT Joel Silver.

How could you not know that Ultimate was born here? You're all idiots!

<-- Bets, about to be banned for the first time ever!

Hey, I don't think you'll be banned, but I just moved here. Am I an idiot because the Realtor didn't mention that this was the birthplace of Ultimate?

It's a great selling point though. It might explain all of the aging hippies with rainbow peace signs as avetars...

J.B.

Oh, crap, now I'm gonna get banned.

I've gathered that Maplewood was actually a pretty conservative place until 10 or 20 years ago. In fact, it is still, really, except for our politics.

Bets is young, not aging at all.

Tom, I grew up in South Orange (and I am aging). I would have said SO-MAP was very liberal always, but I never put too much thought into it. Seems like alot of my peers' parents were VERY cool.

Oh, and I played Ultimate at the "frisbee field" in the very early 70's.
