Our small to medium sized deck is looking dull and I'd like to hire an experienced person to powerwash it and reapply a good quality stain (I'll buy the stain, just want advice re: brand quality and amount required.) I'm sure many on MOL have good recommnedations to use/avoid. Thanks in advance! |

Also, what might this job cost? The deck is probably 15x20 max and is only about a foot off the ground. |

Pdg, I had this exact same thing done last summer on my deck, similar size to yours, and it was in the $500 range. I thought that was a decent price. Trouble is, now I can't remember the name of the company that did it. If I do, I'll post it here. |

I just had this done as part of a exterior paint job and they asked for $450.00, with the stain provided. My deck is ~240 sq., ft.. TomR |

Buy Cabot's stain...Newark Paint, which is on Springfield is a distributor and has much more stock to offer than the other paint places around. CR has rated Cabot's head and shoulders above all the others, year after year. |

Is this a pretty easy do it yourself type of project? |

Those quotes seem to be in-line with prices I've been given before. But you do have to wonder about the price. I mean, for about $200+ you can buy a great powerwasher to keep for various uses at home. Granted it's mostly labor baked into the price (as well as markup for towns in the area), but it seems like it may be something people could do themselves... has anyone ever tried DIY-ing it?

Projects: We had the same thought, and are going to try it this year. I really want this done every year, and it just seems so reasonable to buy the powerwasher.......we'll see! |
