I'm trying to find a fishing net for a friend's child. I had taken him 'fishing' yesterday where he 'caught and released' some fish, and even a turtle. It wasn't anything expensive. His broke while we were 'fishing.' I told him I was going to be in the Dollar Store, so I'd look for one for him. His dad told me that's where they usually get them. Wouldn't you know it I went to several dollar stores and none had any. Nor did Kmart, or Target. They had real fishing rods, but this is more like a toy. The type I'm trying to find has a longish thin handle. Maybe the length of a yard stick, and a net on the end. Anyone have any suggestions? Luckily he's away until tomorrow -Sunday, afternoon. So I have some time. I'd like to be able to leave it for him so he has it when he gets home. |

Try a sporting goods store or a pet shop? |

No. Didn't try there. Though I was in Models buying some sorts. As I sais, it's more a 'toy' kind of thing you'd find in a dollar type store. I'm going to check a couple more places when I go out tomorrow. If I can't find one I'll just leave a message telling him I tried. I'm sure hesomething I do my best to follow through with it. I'm going to check Maplewood Pet tommorw too. Thanks! |

Have you tried the Dollar-type store in West Orange on Main St, just past the Edison building?... same strip mall as a CVS.Or maybe Amazing Savings? |

What about a lacrosse stick. The garage sales in this town are lousy with them. They'd work for a small fish. And when you're ready to "throw it back" look out! J.B. |

Susan- No I forgot about that store! I was even in that area twice yesterday getting on 280. I plan to go to the way on Valley Road whe I go out; I'm going to check the one you mentioned as well now. JB- Now *that's* a good idea as well! My nephews have a bunch of themm! They will never notice if one is missing! He can use that for now until his dad can find him a new one. I'll still look too because I said I would.

We were in KMart (don't ask) a little while ago and they have a large fishing department at their WO store. I didn't check but I will give odds they have reasonably priced nets for sale, not the butterfly nets you usually find in dollar stores. |

Fishing nets are too specific for a dollar store. Try Dick's in East Hanover, it's a sporting goods store. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I gave up this morning. Hopefully he'll forgot about it. It was just one of those cheap toy type nets on a little poll a little longer then a yard stick. His dad did say it was bought in the dollar store. One of my nephews said I could give him one of the lax sticks he has. At least the kid has another shorter net he could use for now. |
