We are cleaning the basement today! It's gotten ridiculous down there. We have a stack of styrofoam packaging inserts - does anyone know where we can recycle them? thanks.

You can probably go to any packaging place. There's one on S.O. Ave, there's one in Millburn near the Kings. They would love to have your stuff.

Just bury it.

Or burn it.

Just kidding. I have a ton of it too. I HATE getting anything with packing peanuts. The are the devil's boogers.

One good place to recycle styrofoam or plastic containers is in containers used for planting. (e.g., wooden barrels). The plastic or foam takes up space that would be occupied by soil, which makes for less soil and less weight and it's re-useable. When the wooden barrel wears out, cut it up, (the barrel) and burn it in your chimenea and put the soil and plastic / foam in a new 1/2 barrel.

Awesome idea!

I'm getting ready to hang a window box from my back porch and plant ivy in it. The idea is that the ivy will hang down from up high in the hung window box. I was worried about the weight.

Upondaroof, are you Martha Stewart?

I don't have any hard evidence, but I would be very reluctant to burn styrofoam. My understanding is that the fumes and smoke, and it gives off a lot of smoke, are highly toxic.

"Upondaroof, are you Martha Stewart? "

No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Bob K. Re-read my post. I said to burn the barrel and re-use the foam.
