I am posting this for a friend and collegue of mine - Nancy

My family and I experienced a fire in our South Orange home on April 21, and we now find ourselves without a home for perhaps 6-12 months. Luckily, no one was injured, but my three children, husband and I have been traumatized nonetheless, as one can imagine, after such a horrible incident as a major fire. Our friends and neighbors have been wonderful to us, reaching out and helping us in this difficult time, but what we now need to focus on is finding a place to live.

If you know of any homes that may be available now, or soon, in SO, Maplewood, or even Millburn and West Orange, please, please let me know. We are looking for a 3 bedroom (or larger) pet-friendly house (we have a very good and sweet medium sized mutt), furnished or unfurnished. At this point, we are not going to be picky; we would just like to give our three kids a sense of normalcy again and a home base in their community while their own home is being repaired. Thank you for your help in giving us any possible leads. Please contact me at either the South Orange Library where I work, 973-762-0230, or on my cell, 973-747-8447.

My friends are selling their house in South Orange, but may be interested in renting. I will pass your information on to them. Good luck!

There is a rental on Glen Ave in Millburn between Cypress and Wyoming. Might only be 2 bedrooms though. I think there is a rental sign on a two-family on Rosedale (right off of Ridgewood right after you go under the trestle toward Millburn). Might also be small.

I think the best thing is to contact some realtors in the area, most of them do rentals.

Not sure if it's rented yet but there is a nice house on Richmond Ave in South Orange between Garfiled and Baldwin that has been for rent for awhile.

There some houses for rent lease on Ridgewood between the Ave and Church Street. Also I thought there were a couple as you go around the bend by the blinking light at Walton. How old are the children and what are their sizes as well as the parents sizes? Maybe we can take up a collection for them? We have a 19 inch color tv they can have.

I know of a similar incident recently and how it was handled by a real estate agent. I assume that the insurance carrier will foot the bill. Is there a possibility that you would NOT use an experienced agent, especially if the insurance covers it?

There is a place offered by Remax in SO on Arnold Terrace. Huge duplex with a backyard, porch, deck, parking and three stories. Worth a shot.
