Ok, I'm a whimp. My little one is down to bottles at bed time and a couple of breast feeds then too. He usually doesn't drink boob or bottle otherwise. I'm pretty tired of this, to say the least. Can I just drop the whole practice cold turkey? I don't have the energy for incremental limitations--I feel like we're already there...
I need a pep talk. Enough is enough!

You could incrementally wean off the bottle, and go cold turkey on the breast. Or you could go cold turkey on both. There might be a difficult period of transition for a few days or a week. You probably should get out of the habit of bedtime drinks of any kind. Will probably work against you when it's time for potty training, which should be coming very soon!

Two and a half is definately old enough to be done with both, particularly if you're ready, and it sure seems like you are. I didn't have much luck with breast feeding, but all my guys were off the bottle by one. Does he do sippy cups? If not you could make a big deal of that, talking it up as a "big boy" thing. I've also heard about the "bottle fairy" (or binky fairy) taking away all the bottles to give to little babies (which your child IS NOT), and leaving some exciting colorful fantastic "big boy" sippies in return.

You're just gonna have to bite the bullet and get it done. A few days of crying will not scar the child for life.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. I am sooooo tired!! And I like the idea of a bottle fairy. He's a real imaginitive type tyke, and might just get into it!
