Even though the Target on Rt 22 in Union is called a Target Greatland and the one in Watchung isn't, i'm convinced the one in Watchung is bigger. Or maybe the different layout is deceiving me. Either way, Watchung seems just a bit more pleasant and kept up. Does anyone know if the same applies to the Walmarts in Union vs. Watchung? I'm so traumatized by the astonishing stupidity and utter disheveledness every time i step foot in the Union store that i couldn't even conceive of going to another one. But i have to face facts... when you have a kid, these stores just become a regular part of life. Any other targets or walmarts around that are particularly nice, clean, big... or preferable in some other way? |

I am surprised that you find the Union Target not good...I have always enjoyed it and actually when I happened to be in the Target in Watchung this past weekend felt the opposite...that that store was sort of messy... Walmart in Union is a disgrace to the name...I do not know whether corporate has ever even been there...there is no pride in how that store is kept...that is very obvious. There is a Walmart in Morris Plains somewhere and the one by Watchung...my favorite is all the way out 22 near Phillipsburg...well stocked, clean and an hour drive away!!

Monster is right with Target on 10... I couldn't stand being in the one on Route 22, maybe they are just having bad days when I go in, but it just seems all over the place. Walmart on 22 is also the same way as Target, but it's the only one I know, so I just get in, get what I need and get out and swear I will never go back....until the next time. Someone mentioned that the old Expo site is becoming/could become a Target - does anyone on MOL know if there is any truth in this or if it is wishful thinking? |

I've never had a problem with the Route 22 Target. Walmart, on the other hand, is a mess. |

The Target on Route 10 is big enough to build 747s in. Walking from the entrance to the far corner where the patio stuff is is best not undertaken without a GPS for guidance. They hushed it up, but I know as a fact they found two skeletons of shoppers who never made it back out. Very sad. |

Isn't the Target in Watchung also on route 22? If so going there on a saturday afternoon might be lots of traffic no? Couple weeks ago I went to the Target in Clark and it was really easy to get there (right off exit 135 on GSP). It seemed quite similar to the Target in Union in terms of the stuff they had (maybe just a bit more selection) and maybe a bit more organized and cleaner - I do have to say that I went there in the middle of the week though, so maybe that's why was cleaner... |

Walmart seems to have a policy of opening a store, keeping it spiffy and well staffed for a few months, then letting it go to pot. The merchandise becomes a mess, there are not enough employees, and those who work there are not very helpful. Maybe their morale is bad. I'm sorry about that, but it's a total downer for me.

Eww, I stepped foot in that Walmart ONCE and would never go back. Traget I go to on occasion. Yesterday I went to the one on 10 for the first time and it seems more spread out than the Union store but I found it comfusing. |

I definitely like the Target on Rt 10 better. The one on 22 seems to be disheveled since they added the food section. Plus the one on 10 is right next to Costco. (and across from Chuck E Cheese and E. Hanover Bowling Lane - both sites of frequent parties for my kids' friends) Wasn't there a rumor that the golf range on Springfield was going to be turned into Target & BJ's. Not that it would be great for traffic, but it beats going to 22 or 10! |

There's a Walmart in Boonton that's pretty good. The TArget on 10 is WAY better than the one on 22, but then, I don't care for 22 at all. I only go there if I absolutely MUST. Actually, not to throw a fly in the ointment, Kohl's on ten is GREAT. You can get great prices there on the clearance rack, and I've always found the service to be up to par. One year, I did all my Christmas shopping there because the prices were so good. |

Lol, Bob K.! I do not shop at Walmarts (we're not in the Soapbox: All Politics thread, so I'll spare you the reasons why). I do occasionally shop at Target. It makes sense that the Watchung and Route 10 stores seem nicer; for one thing, they're both newer, and maybe the floor plans have evolved since the Target on Route 22 in Union was designed; and for another thing, the Route 22 Union store, in addition to being older, probably has a greater volume of customers since it is closer to points east, including NYC, and is in the middle of an extremely popular shopping destination. Just my opinion. And Bob K., you're absolutely right about the cavernous dimensions of the Route 10 store. Maybe they could open up the store before it opens, like The Mall at Short Hills does for its walkers, but offer training for marathoners instead .

I find the best Target to be the one on 46 - it is the one with the most in stocks. With regard to Wal-mart the ones on 10, 22 and 46 (Saddlebrook) are all awful. 10 and 46 are too small while 46 and 22 have some of the poorest upkeep in a chain store I have ever seen. Somehow when the larger chains and discounters make their way into the Northeast the quality of service drops off of the table.

Pappa You're better off going to the Walmart on Ridgedale Ave in Morris Plains. (though I tend to have panic attacks whenever I go there). From there hang a right out the parking lot and head to Route 10 where there is a Target. |

There's also a very large Walmart in the TradeZone up in Mount Olive. Someone mentioned Kohls, That's my favorite store! |

The only thing I go to WalMart for is lens tissue wipes. They carry, believe it or not, great German ones made by the people who make Leica cameras. I also bought a great pair of polarized sunglasses there. LOL If you are traveling and see a rural WalMart, stop in. It is remarkable how different they are and how different the merchandise is. If you need some overalls or cold weather gear..... |
