Anyone have any knowledge of either? I'm looking into this for my mom. My father is retired from the Navy, and we want to know if she's eligible for either and if it's worth it. My father retired from the Navy over 50 years ago and we don't know if that matters. Been to the various websites and well - the DoD doesn't make it very clear. |

My parents have Tricare (previously called Champus) because my father was a career naval officer. They have always had Tricare/Champus because that is what the navy provides and we consider our parents fortunate to always have this guaranteed healthcare. That being said, I think that co-pays have increased in recent years and my mother (who lives in Florida) sometimes has trouble finding doctors who accept Tricare. She also has supplemental insurance through what I think is an organization for retired officers, but I cannot remember what this is called. I'll ask her what the name of the organization is tonight, because you might have an easier time finding somebody there to talk to then at Tricare itself. |
