Because the threads with the last posts go on top of the page, when someone doesn't post on your thread it moves down and becomes easier for people to miss it and not read it. So often the person that created the thread just needs to write something in order for the thread to move to the top of the page again. I don't know the reason for using the word "Bump" and not something else like "Push up" or "PullUP" or "Hopping away" or some other more fun words... but that is the reason why you see that sometimes. |

Brett- Black-eyed Peas. Can't remember where I heard it, but it's one of those songs that I find catchy even tho it's really stupid. Like Hollaback girl. Thought I was too old, didja?
A few years back, my baby bro told me he was impressed because I had a Jodeci CD in my collection. I threw it at his head. I ain't no holla back bump, I ain't no holla back bump Nah. Doesn't work. Nevermind. |

Now everybody have you heard If you're in the game, then the bump's the word Don't take no rhythm, don't take no style Got a thirst for killin', grab your vile... You put your right hand out give a firm hand-shake Talk to me about that one big break... Spread your ear-pollution both far and wide... Keep your contributions by your side and bump me, bump me Could be a winner boy, you move quite well... You got your number down... Say you're a winner but man you're just a sinner now You put your left foot out keep it all in place... Work your way right into my case First you try to bed me you make my backbone slide But when you found you bled me-- skip on by... keep on---bump me, bump me Give me the business all night long... You're so together boy... Say you're a winner but man you're just a sinner now Better listen now (said) it ain't no joke Let your conscience fail ya, just do the bump Don'tcha take no chances keep your eye on top Do your fancy dances you can't stop you just bump me, bump me

It's Saturday night and I'm just hangin' out, Lookin' for a place to party, I jumps into my ride and I hits the road, 'Cause there's only one place to go: (Down to the nightclub) Ooh, the women be righteously ready and pretty, (Down to the nightclub) We go bump-ty, bump-ty, bump' (Bump City!) Sitting by the dance floor checkin' it out, Watchin' the man with fast feet, He's got the hippest threads and the bad boogaloo And a big ol' bag of tricks. (Down to the nightclub) Ah, ha, you can get what you want If you know how to find it. (Down to the nightclub) Ooh, we be slick, slick, slick. Ooh, the people be bumpin' (At Bump City!) The joint be jumpin' (At Bump City!) The mamas be humpin' (At Bump City!) Hey, while the band be pumpin', 'Said the band be pumpin', The beat be somethin', Ow! One time y'all! The night's almost gone and we're still goin' strong, 'Cause the party's been so hearty. I hope it doesn't show while I'm drivin' down the road That I had to much to drink. (Down to the nightclub) Well, if you've got the dough, the liqour will flow. (Down to the nightclub) Tied on a drunk, drunk, drunk. (Down to the nightclub) We go bump-ty, bump-ty, bump. (Down to the nightclub) We be slick, slick, slick. (Down to the nightclub) We go bump-ty, bump-ty, bump. (Down to the nightclub) Tied on a drunk, drunk, drunk. (Down to the nightclub) Well, if you've got the dough, the liqour will flow. (Down to the nightclub) Yeah, yeah, oh, yeah. (Down to the nightclub) Look here, man, you can get what you want if you know how to find it. (Down to the nightclub) C'mon, C'mon, C'mon. (Down to the nightclub) Yeah, yeah, oh, yeah. Yes, Roofie, and a marvelous song (and band) it is, too. (Note proper placement of commas.) By the way, the entire Tower of Power catalog is on deep, deep discount (used) as we speak at www.djangos.com. |

Parenthesis: Parentheses present entirely optional material. You (can't resist, but you) include the material for the edification or pleasure of the reader. The structure of the sentence should flow as if the parenthetical bit were removed. If the contents of your parenthesis can't be removed and still do right by your reader, it doesn't belong in parenthesis; either bump it up to comma delineation or make it into its own sentence. Comma: A comma is required after prepositional phrases in American English (not British), is used when making lists or deliberately imposing a slight pause, and separates out optional bits of information, such as the dreaded caveat words. Use commas when the comma-delineated section is something that the reader should read, but that could be removed without tragedy to the understanding borne by the sentence, and leaving the sentence grammatically intact. |

I've no idea what Andreas and JMcI plan on doing in Win/Mac, but for now in Unix: small bugfixes will append `p<n>' (for `patch') to the VM release number; significant changes in the support (or changes in the generated files) will bump the release number and truncate any `p<n>'; only changes to Squeak's version number will bump the VM major or minor numbers. (If you can think of a more sensible scheme you'd better tell me about it _before_ 3.3.1p1 comes out. ;) |

Well, as long as we're among friends now, tell us something.... Which camp does your hubby fall into: 1. You say "Honey, guess what xxx said on the yyy thread today" and he listens with interest and offers an opinion. 2. You say "Honey, I saw your post on the xxx thread today" and he says "yeah, that really cracked/pissed me off." 3. He walks in the door, sees you on MOL, rolls his eyes and says "I guess this means you haven't fed the cat." Not that I've ever experienced #3, of course. |

Greenie, actually he comes home, says to me "How's my cutie been today?" Gives me a kiss and goes in to shower. I tell him about the MOL postings and we discuss how we can do better. This is how we pay our bills now. We might slip up occassionally but if our best isn't good enough then please tell us. Oh, and Happy Birthday. |

In 1863 Tom Thumb married Lavinia Warren Bump, a perfectly proportioned woman who stood 31 inches tall. Their wedding was one of the most important social events of that season in New York, with over 2,000 guest attending the reception. |

My grandmother's name was Lavinia. Never heard it anywhere else before. Wait, actually that's a lie. There is/was a young woman who works/ed at the Bank of American in Maplewood who's name is Lavinia. But that's the only other one I've ever heard of. |
