Next week I am doing something I've never done before - flying out of Newark in the AM and returning the same day in the evening. Is it cheaper to take a cab or park at the airport? I need to be at the airport about 6 AM, returning around 8 PM, so 14 hrs. If parking is cheaper, is it obvious to know where to park? I've used the short-term lot when picking people up so I can easily figure that out. I haven't been in the long-term lot in years. |

The long term lot is pretty far away and you need to take the tram to get to the airport from there and allow yourself extra time. I think its about $10 per day, but Im not sure. A cab or car for me runs around $30 each way. |

Short term parking is best choice for one day trips. ($25 I think?) and 1 monorail stop away from your terminal. Long term is so far away, I think it's basically located in Maplewood. |

The monorail is pretty quick; it runs every 3-4 minutes and takes less than 5 to the terminals. I use the valet for one day, around $30. Worth the convenience, since you handoff your keys and themonorail is right there. A cab will be $25-$30 each way. |

Mr. Kibbegirl short terms all the time. He used to use the company car service, but you can't get the same guy all the time and many don't know NJ directions. When you're tired from meetings all day, you just want to hop into your own car, not talk to anyone, listen to your own CD's and go home. |

I was just at the airport yesterday & noticed an "Advisory" for the monorail for early hours: http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/adv_050206.html Parking in "Hourly parking" is $30/day & parking in "Daily Parking" is $24/day. A cab is typically $35 or so each way, so driving & parking makes the most sense. However, due to the service advisory, I'd suggest parking in "Hourly parking" and avoid the monorail. |

Hourly parking is "short term", i.e. right up next to the terminal, right? If it's only $30/day I'll do that. What cabs do you guys take? They've always charged me $42, flat fee - Maplewood Taxi (going) and Newark cabs from the cab stand (coming home). I've never seen anything like $30 or even $35 each way. |

The yellow cabs at the airport cabstand charge $32. (I just took one last week and that is their standard fare.) I'm not sure about coming to the airport as I always try to get a friend or family member to drop me off so that I won't stress about whether the cab will arrive on time (or at all.) |
