My house has old alarm company decals on many windows and doors. They're pretty well stuck on. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove them? I have tried scraping them, and it's a no-go. They're ugly. Help! |

Why do you want to take them off? The decals and signs from alarm companies are apparently real deterrents for burglars. No kidding. |

Former Cowgirl, I hear you, but the thing is, the person who put them on stuck them smack-dab in the middle of certain windows, not in a logical place like a corner. Plus they are very old-looking, and I don't think any burglar would think the alarm was still in use. We'll try Goof Off or Goo Gone + razor. Thanks! |

If that doesn't work, smash the window, then replace it. I hope that's helpful. Oh, if you need someone to smash it... P.L me. J.B. |

what Jersey_Boy meant to say was once you smash the window, PL him to come over and replace it. He's just itching to do another home-improvement project. |

Elizabeth, Okay, I deserved that. I like home improvement projects sooooo much better than home problem projects. Unfortunately, my leaky bathrooms have prevented me from paying proper attention to such matters as old decals. I am, therefore, offering my services in demolition. J.B. |

Benzine takes off any labels and stickers from pretty much anywhere. And it can be used safely on plastic surfaces as well without any damage of the surface, as oppose to alcohol that "eats away" plastic and can cause some surfaces to loose color... Just add a little to a cloth, paper towel, cotton ball and rub the surface. Then pull the label from one of the edges and clean any remained glue. |
