I need an asthma dr. and preferably someone who will not just recommend I take Advair 2x a day, everyday for the rest of my life, as my asthma is often allergy related and intermittent.

We take our son to Dr. Joel Mendelson in Mountainside. I believe he may see adults too. Our son has cold related-asthma and is off treatment now that it's not cold season. I'm with you...advair is serious business. If you do any research on line you can see the side effects it's had on people. I could write pages and pages on doctors over-mdeicating patients, or medicating them unnecessarily. If I were you, I'd also just try to do a lot of research on your own on the internet about possible homepathic solutions. I also have allergy-related asthma, but mine is related to my animal allergies and if I stay away from the dander, I can keep my asthma more in control. |

I love Karen Ziemke in the Atkins Kent Building across from St. Barnabas. I developed asthma while pregnant and had it diagnosed by her afterwards. Mine is also allergy driven so we work to keep the allergies under control which helps the asthma. I do take Advair, but only once/day. She really worked with me to find the right combination and doses of meds that would keep me breathing well with the fewest side effects. I feel like such a whiner when I complain about leg cramps or restless legs or the other side effects. They are minor compared to not being able to breathe, but they are still a PIA! SHe has always been understanding and helpful and really worked with me. She also see both my young boys and they love her. Office staff are also all nice and helpful. |
