I have to catch a 6:15pm Amtrak train out of Newark Penn Station tonight; what time should I leave Maplewood to get there in time? Also, any suggestions for a taxi or car service to take me there? I know I swore no more weekday MOL now that I've started my new job, but this is a business trip I'm taking so technically this is a job related query . . . |

I would leave by 5:00 to be on the safe side. You're coming in at rush hour and there have been a lot of traffic changes because of the arena construction that slow everything down. Your best bet may be to come in Springfield Ave or South Orange Ave (believe it or not) to Market (that will bring you right to Penn Station). The traffic on 78 and McCarter Highway can be crazy at that time.

30 min, 45 max travel time. You'll be going against traffic and shouldn't run into any issues if they take Springfield Ave straight in. Maplewood Cab for $32. |

You could also take the train to Newark Broad and then walk/cab/City subway over to Newark Penn. I would also allow an hour to get there. |

Do cabs line up at Newark Broad Street? I thought the city subway was defunct, and the light rail isn't open yet? |

The City Subway doesn't go there but there is a bus which runs between Newark Broad Street and Newark Penn Station. |
