My Son wants to be a Pirate for Book Day at school. I've talked him out of a hat and into a bandana for his head, but I need an eye patch, a big gold belt buckle and possibly a "safe" hook. If I can find a 3-cornered hat, he'd be really happy, too. Any ideas? |

An eye patch seems like construction paper with a black shoelace threaded through the top. A safe hook can be rigged up with a plastic plant hanger covered in aluminum foil. He needs a parrot! Arrrrrgh! Calli 18 men on a dead man's chest! Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! |

This probably doesn't help much but when we were in DisneyWorld last week they had whole Captain Hook costumes (red coat and all!). My husband said the stock reminded him of the Disney Store in NYC (he is in there WAY too much buying princess stuff for the girls). So if the NYC store is convenient you can check there (call first!) or maybe another Disney store in NJ. |

Thanks, Amie, but we put something together this afternoon (His Dad's going to be away and he wants him to see it tonight before he gets on the plane), and sonny-boy seems pretty thrilled with how he looks. He likes the red bandana, I found some red pedal pushers (yea, showing my age)and a red sailor jacket on sale at an inexpensive kids clothing store on Rt. 10, I got an eye patch, pirate sabre and pirate earrings at the Party City place everyone suggested. A little face paint for mustache and beard shadow and he's done. He actually looks pretty good for a throw-together! Thanks for the help! |

No parrot? Still,I'll bet he looks great! The most important thing is that he's a happy swashbuckler. |
