I saw them LIVE at BYU in the late 1970's.
Karen was bawling uncontrolably after the show
for some unknown reason! I think Richard had pissed her off.
It was a good show! She had the best voice!
Now, she's on top of the world looking down on creation...

You know the old joke: if she had eaten Mama Cass' sandwich, they'd both be alive today.

I love her. Even more than Celine Dion.

Me too. Even better than I like Celine. I still love it when one of their songs plays on the radio.

She had a voice that was pure. It didn't need tweaking or played with....unlike a lot of the so-called "vocal talent" nowadays.

Karen Carpenter. Randy Newman. John Hyatt. Willie Nelson. Jennifer Warnes. Joni Mitchell. Nat King Cole. Tim Buckley. Jesse Colin Young. Art Garfunkel. Roy Orbison. Ray Charles. Bing Crosby. Joe Cocker. Harry Nilsson. Pure.

I think I meant to say that there is a lot of the "new" talent coming out that couldn't hold a candle to Carpenter.

All the ones that Soda named are from the non 20-30 age group, and yes I agree, all have real, sock it to you, pure talent...

Add to that list Annie Lenox
