Getting blood tested for a 13 month old?

Our pedatrician informed us that it is NJ state law to have this test done. I'm freaked about letting anyone draw blood from my 13 month daughter especially at the generic Quest labs in the area... The doctors office wasn't very helpful except for saying that the technicians are train to take blood from infants. I wouldn't trust them to take blood from a turnip much less my prince. She didn't bat an eye and the technicians were quite good. And I just spoke to a mom yesterday whose one-year-old was tested and found to have higher than acceptable levels of lead. She had no idea.
