I'm looking for someplace to go for a few hours this afternoon and get some work done, reading manuscripts and checking email etc on my work-issued laptop. Any suggestions for comfy places nearby with internet access? I'd need to connect to the internet via ethernet cable (I assume I'd bring my own?), unless it is possible to "borrow" the wireless card from my home laptop. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!!!

Cranford is too far for my lazy self!!! How about the Maplewood &/or South Orange libraries? Anyone know what their internet deal is? Does Net Nomads have comfy chairs and/or couches where I could do my reading? |

I've used the Maplewood Library for internet access when my phone lines are down. DK as to whether its a DSL or cable connection, but it is much faster than dial-up. And you wont have to bring your laptop. As for the comfort level of NetNomads? Stop in. What have you got to lose? TomR |

Thanks, all! I'm in the Maplewood Library at this very moment, in a comfy chair, using my laptop wirelessly. For free! I could get used to working like this . . . (ps, net nomads does not have internet access for laptops, which struck me as slightly odd considering they are an internet cafe. oh well!) |

Amandacat, Give us a few weeks to open and then stop by Café Meow, directly across from Wooden You Know and The Beaded Path on Springfield. Comfy chairs, wifi and your favorite caffeinated beverage. John |

Oooh, John, can you tell us more about Cafe Meow?? I asked about it here a few weeks ago but didn't hear much. Can you give us some more specifics? When's the opening? What's on the menu? |

Hey Dego Diva! Mrs Mooch here (wife of John, owner of Cafe Meow)! Thanks for your interest. Well, here's the scoop....... we are a "funky cool eclectic" cafe serving organic brewed coffee and Illy espresso and fine teas. We'll have most of the usual specialty coffee drinks, along with fresh brewed iced tea and lemonade, fresh squeezed oj, and fruit smoothies. We will have "light fare" food items, like fresh hot oatmeal in the mornings, along with fresh baked goodies (whole wheat chocolate zucchini cake is one of my specialties), soup of the day, panini, organic salads (lettuce varities and others), etc, all baked/prepared on site by me! Nothing is made to order, but there will be plenty of delicious food to be had either for eat in or take out. Healthy kids menu, organic all beef no antibiotic hot dogs with organic apple slices or a fresh ground peanut butter & jelly (made with real sugar, and maybe even made by me!) pocket sandwich on whole wheat bread. There will be a heavy organic/natural leaning in everything we do. We plan to be as "green" as possible, which includes a recycling program in house and I plan to compost all of my vegetable/fruit scraps. The interior will be a comfy cozy mix of mismatched furniture, antiques and vintage pieces, in a "living room" type array. We will also though offer more "traditional" seating with tables and chairs and the best part is we have a big enough sidewalk to put out outdoor seating! We'll have a wheelchair accessible bathroom and a diaper deck! We'll have live music on the weekends and host book clubs and start a knitting group (I'm a big knitter, or used to be before I started this crazy ride!) and it will be kid friendly. We'll offer free WIFI and a host of other fun things! So, that's just a tease of what's to come, Come see us! Hopefully we'll be opening in the next month!!! Mrs Mooch Cafe Meow
