My favorite - Dubrow's - is out of the retail business. I'm on a hunt for annuals. The unusual; I'm tired of impatiens. Preferably open in the evening this time of year. I wasn't impressed with Corrado's or Metropolitan last time I was at either place. Although, it may have been too early for the summer stuff.

Suggestions?

Great Swamp Greenhouse. It looks like someone's house when you drive in, but you go around to the back, and it's huge! There seem to bee acres of plants in the greenhouse. The colors and scents are gorgeous--it's a feast for the senses, even if you don't buy anything. The hanging plants are the most beautiful I've ever seen. I got a Martha Washington geranium--absolutely stunning. The stock seems to be hardier and healthier than that at other places, and there is more variety. Don't give up on impatiens until you see theirs--there are colors and varieties I've never seen before. They have a web site.

I stopped at Great Swamp on the way home. I only had 20 minutes & they had to throw me out. But, I managed to do a bit of damage. I am in love. Thanks!

Now, I just have to be able to bend over enough to plant. What do you think that the new chiro will say when I see him tomorrow and tell him that I need my back fixed so that I can garden?

I will also take field trips to the other places.

Check out Fairfield Gardens, Rt 46, WB, in fairfield. Outrageous place and they have it all. Pretend you're going to Wiilowbrook, but pass it and get on 46 West and its right up the road.

I went to Fairfield Nursery on 46 last weekend and was surprised at all the stuff they had.

I seems to recall that Great Swamp & the Farm place were what the guy at Dubrows suggested to me when I asked where to go due to their closure...

GREENTREE...

We LOVE Strawberry's up in Wayne, north on Rt 23 above Willowbrook Mall.
Got some flats of Gazania's. (They bloomed very well last summer!) Also got some phlox, and a few other perennials...

Also just about a mile west of Willowbrook Mall on Rt 46 is Jose Tejas, a very nice & reasonable Tex-Mex place we like too...

On the Service rd. to WB Mall, (across from JC Penny's & Fortunoff's)
there's a cool place to buy PASTA to bring home. It's Maria's.
I like their Porcini Mushroom raviolis. They used to be in Nutley, but moved here a few years ago.
