Only one I know is Dr. Durante. Our family used to go to him and really liked him as a person and mostly liked him as a doctor. We have switched to Dr. Orenberg who is touted by many on this board and deservedly so. Dr. Orenberg may be in your plan since he seems to accept many plans, btw.

I learned of Orenberg here on MOL. We adore him. He is attentive and informative, as well as very likable.

His office is right next to Dunkin Donuts on Springfield Ave in Maplewood.

Trouble with Dr. Durante is that he splits his time between Millburn and Nutley. So coordinating schedules can be troublesome.

I agree Duncan. At one point, about three years ago when Dr. Durante was my doctor, I became extremely ill, high fever, etc. and based on my history (asthma, etc.) I knew I needed to be looked at and treated. My husband had to drive me to Nutley. Not only that but when he moved his office from Maplewood to Millburn he didn't notify his patients. Half the time, the Millburn's office number was not picked up and messages were not returned. While that is more of an office staff problem, it is still his problem. I think Dr. Durante for the most part was a good doctor but not good enough to put up with that and a few other things. As a person, he's a great guy.

Are you sure Marnie Doubek isn't listed as a provider (or Sue Posner) at Springfield Family Practice? I know she told me once she took all the insurances. I have been a fan of hers since she did her internship at Chatham Family Practice. She then opened her own place in Springfield (on Morris Ave) and has another office in the MA building at Overlook Hospital. She's wonderful!

She diagnosed my underactive thryoid when others couldn't figure out what was wrong and she is caring and sensible and bonus, a Maplewood resident with 3 young boys. She's a GP. I was so fed up with my pediatrician's office, I moved my kids over to her too and have never regretted it. She goes above and beyond and has a great sense of humor.

She's the reason we moved to Maplewood (she told us how great it was). See if she is in the plan. You'll love her!

Good luck

I second Drs. Doubek, Posner & Snyder. They're great docs who really seem to care about their patients.

But good luck getting an appointment! The offices are so horribly run, it's impossible to get anyone on the phone to make an appointment. The phone usually just rings and rings and rings, or it's busy. Doesn't matter the time of day or day of the week.

Is Sofia Shapiro in your plan? She's great - excellent bedside manner. Very convenient too - her office is on S.O. Ave near Seton Hall. Never had a problem getting an appointment, nor do I know anyone who has (I know a few other people who go to her).
