I need some knitting supplies in a hurry. Where can I get a good selection at a reasonable price? Is there a store nearby so I don't have to trek to Michael's on Route 10? Thanks!

There is a knitting store on Millburn Ave next to the Movie theater I think. Don't remember the name of it.

There's a tiny shop on Millburn ave, but they are overpriced and don't have a great selection, IMO.
I just came across a fairly new shop in West Orange on Eagle Rock Ave.
They had a terrific selection, and more reasonably priced than the shop in Millburn (can't remember the name)

yarnware.com

good luck!

All About Yarn in Millburn, next to the movies.

There is also The Stitching Bee, on Main Street in Chatham. Wonderful shop.

My house; my husband would say I have enough yarn to open a yarn store!

What is it you are looking for? The Stitching Bee or Yarnware are good bets. I would call first before going to All about Yarn to see if they have what you are looking for.

Although a bit farther, my favorites are Knit a Bit in Westfield and the two newer stores in Montclair - Modern Yarn and Stix n Stitches. The owners of all of the above are great and a pleasure to do business with. I would say they all are more expensive than the West Orange place, so it depends on what you need. All About Yarn in Millburn is not a great place for browsing. It's small and they have lots of rules for conduct in their store.

The Rag Shop in West Oange on Prospect. Or East Hanover on Route 10. Michaels is also on Route 10 in the same set of stores as Rag Shop. The latter are across from the Sony Theater.

The Montclair stores are great, but I figured if mantram didn't want to go out to route 10, Montclair was probably out. Now, if you want really nice stores, and don't mind traveling, some of my favorites are (in no particular order):

The above named two in Montclair (especially Stix and Stitches, because Sunday works there).
Yarnware in West Orange
The Stitching Bee in Chatham
Knit a Bit in Westfield
Knitter's Workshop in Garwood
A Yarn for All Seasons in Martinsville
Aunt Jean's Handiworks in Clinton (owner is inspiring)
Majestic Yarns in Ridgewood (mostly Karabella)
Handknits in Englewood was a wonderful store, but they are moving to Vermont

To name a few.

My name is Camnol and I'm a yarn-a-holic.

Wow! I had no idea there were so many knitting enthusiasts here on MOL. I need to make a run to Trader Joe's anyway, so I plan to check out Knit a Bit. Thanks so much Camnol -- and everyone!

Have fun! As you can see, Knit-a-Bit has a lot of fans. From Trader Joe's they are on the left hand side, after crossing E. Broad, 2nd floor.
