does anyone know how i could get to (and from) jersey gardens without having to do the turnpike? Is there any local way anyone knows of? Got lost last time trying to get home... seemed to take a long time, when in reality it's not so far from us.. thanks! Erin |

I entered the address -- 651 Kapkowski Road, Elizabeth, NJ 07201 -- into http://maps.google.com. It gave me a purely local-roads way to get there from Maplewood.

This is the way I go to IKEA, you pass Jersey Gardens on the way.
From Maplewood I take Burnett Ave towards Union till it ends. I take a left onto Morris Ave. When I start seeing KEAN college, I know I am getting close and I take a left onto North Ave. North Ave takes you right there. It's about a 20 minute drive. |

Or take 78 E. to the turnpike.
Go south to 13a. Entrance road is approx 200 feet to the right of the exit toll booth. |

take 78 east to the exit for the airport and route 21. Head toward the airport and you'll see a sign for 1&9 south. take 1&9 south until you get to an exit for north & dowd ave. take dowd ave exit, stay to the right and you'll see the sign for Jersey Gardens Blvd. take Jersey Gardens Blvd. right to Mall.

I do what bklyntonj does for both IKEA and Jersey Gardens. If you miss the airport exit, then you can take the next (Routes 1&9) exit from I-78, but it is actually a bit farther that way. |
