Hi, need to find paint that washes off for a infant hand print. Any ideas? |

Poster paint? For more permanent, interior latex paints wash off with warm soap and water pretty easily. If you want to be extra careful, you might want to check out this website: http://eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_paints.htm |

NFK, depending on what you are doing, you could try an idea that local Aborigines use to commemorate significant events. Everyone present makes an imprint of their hand (or feet, for babies) using a mix of poster paint and fresh clay or mud. I think it's like the white slip that's used in pottery or ceramic art. It doesn't affect the colours used, it's non-toxic, the results are fairly permanent on whatever surface but are easily brush-cleaned and the whole thing can be 'fixed' by firing if the surface is heat-treatable. |

Finger paints should wash off easily. As an added plus, they are meant to be applied by hand. However, I imagine most paint would smudge too much for you to get a clear impression. When I took my infant's prints many years ago, I used an inkless fingerprint pad and a specially treated card designed to record fingerprints. 27 years later, the prints are still clear and easy to read. |
