Any ideas on who might want old books? Big variety of fiction as well as old texts books. It seems almost sinful to throw them out, but have already done the garage sale and multiple trips to Good Will and still have several boxes full. Ideas?? |

The Maplewood Train station has some racks where people leave and take books. The texts might not be appropriate but the fiction would be.

Turnover Sale is coming. You can drop off your fiction etc. (but I think not text books) at Morrow Church starting Sat. June 17. And the train station and swimming pool book swap racks are also great. |

The libraries that were decimated by Katrina are desperate to re-build their collections. I have instructions at home (I'm on my lunch break at work)as to where and how they can be sent(deeply discounted). If you are interested in doing that, I will check when I get home tonight. Calli |

SO library has something going with one of the Katrina libraries. Don't know the details. You could call the library or PL LibraryLady. |

Calli, please let me know as well. According to all our contacts at ALA and in New Orleans,Mississippi, etc. they have no room for used books, no place to store them and greatly prefer cash contributions. Please let us know if you have heard differently. |

Nancy, Your information is probably more accurate than mine, but when I get home this evening, I will check on it, and if still valid, I will post it here. Calli |

When I came home from work I called my friend in Florida who had e-mailed me that she sent books (and she knows I have enough to have my own wing at Barnes& Noble)and forwarded a message she had received back in April. She said she had, indeed ,sent books, and knew others who had, too. They did not get them back. And, she was a little surprised that I questioned the accuracy of this information. So, then I checked Snopes, which was inconclusive. Here's the link: http://www.snopes.com/katrina/charity/library.asp This was the best I could do. Sorry for the confusion. Calli |

check of FAQs at http://nutrias.org/foundation/donationsfaq.htm while you can still send books, this is not now the prefered way to help due to space and staff limitations. |

The bookstore in Montclair used to buy used books. Don't know if they still do, but you could check. |

Well, they don't buy old Playboys. I've got an embarassing story of trying THAT when we moved from Montclair. You can guess the details.
