Kitties....an Update The Story of Five Brothers These five brothers were pulled out of a garage roof that was going to be torn down. They are about 10 weeks old, have been completely socialized and are ready to bring that special joy that only a rambunctious kitten can bring to a new home. All five have tested negative for FIV, FeLV. They have been dewormed, Frontlined and had their first round of shots. They will be neutered before they leave our house. They currently live in a house with two large dogs and two adult cats. They consider the dogs to be enemies, but have shown signs of making peace. They get along with other cats. Brewster: The most outgoing and energetic of the brothers. His motor starts up as soon as you come into the room. Give him a plate of wet food and he’ll be your friend forever. Chester: A gorgeous gray and white tabby, Chester has a calm and loving nature that sometimes explodes into fits of kitten wrestling. Milo: If he knows he is the smallest brother, Milo doesn’t show it. He was the first one to venture forth from their garage home. He has a sweet and playful nature. Rosco: A lap cat born. Rosco has a gorgeous soft brown tabby coat with a speckled belly and a lust for laps. His motor can be heard across the room when he finds someone warm to cuddle with. Simon: A big gorgeous gray tabby tom cat in the making. Simon has big paws and a laid-back nature. He has had the hardest time learning to trust people – he will need someone looking to invest in a trusting relationship. To come see the borthers, call Jacob at 973.568.1142, or e-mail to jmbraude@mindspring.com. We are asking for a $75 adoption fee for each to cover the costs of their neuters. |

What a big and generous heart you have. What beautiful and lucky kitties they are. Not ready to have a kitten in our house right now, but I sure wish I was after the great little profiles you posted above. Good luck to you. Have you posted on petfinder.com? |

Krista, You are a wonderful caring person, bless you. We have 4 kitties, which is our limit, otherwise I would take all of them if I could. I know that is not much consolation, but will promote the boys. Tabby

Krista, What handsome boys they are! I will spread the word that they are available. Thanks for taking them in under extremely inconvenient circumstances. I wish I knew more people like you!

Now you know if we were closer, Minnie might just take one under her wing...she started a bit like Simon so I like to think she might just recognise a like-soul. Sadly we can't help out. Our first cat (well, my family's when I was just a young girl) looked a lot like Milo, with some of the brown undertones. His name was Peanuts (nothing to do with the cartoon strip) and he was just a house-staying tom, just an outside cat. Loving, uncomplicated, never really went much beyond our yard, spoke French and Polish to our mum, and ate porridge and boiled soup vegies. Great furry friend. Hope your fostered brood find a home soon!

They are so cute! I wish I were in a position to add another kitty, but sadly I'm not. I like the names you chose too, although "Chester" was my dog's name when I was a child, and to me that still says "DOG." |

Have you contacted the JAC in SO? They may be willing to put them on the website if you can still foster them. Then you could bring them to their next adoption day if you do that. (I would love Chester, but we just got a 7 month old kitten added to our 2 older cats and I think that would push the 13 yo over the edge ) |

Krista, I sent an email to the mindspring address. Someone in your family has a real talent for chosing names. I also think it was very considerate of you to install carpeting to match their fur - must save you hours on the cleanup! Cecilia, you posted on Wednesday that you were thinking...???? |

when we got our kittens at JAC, they had just come in the day before. we took two and the other two were taken while we were there. There is another shelter in bloomfield (homeless animal adoption league), that adopts out a lot of kittens. i think you call animal control to come and get them and there may be a fee for each one that you have to pay ($60?) |

Krista, I'll make sure some of my cat contacts are aware of your boys. I will PL you later with some names that you might want to follow up on,to see if you can bring them to an adoption day (there may have to be some fee-splitting in that instance, but you can work things out) I'm sure if they have some exposure at PetSmart or Petco they will go in a flash. Did you post their pictures at area vet offices? Sometimes that is a very good vehicle, as well as private groomers, and any non-chain pet supply stores. Calli |

Crazy q: thanks for the info...I know the JAC won't take the kittens directly from me...and we are hesitant to just dump them off on animal control, fee or no fee, and not know what comes of them...but I have contacted them to see of the brothers can be posted on their site. I do wish they had the traffic seeing them that a shelter has...that may be an option down the line if we get no more bites. Calli: Thanks for spreading the word. We are already going to one adoptathon on Saturdays in Clifton...the fee isn't really an issue, we just want to weed out people who aren't actually interested in life-long, loving committment... Posting at local stores and vets is a good idea though...I will try that! Krista |

Years ago there was a story about a family that had a problem such as yours. They made a sign, "4 cute kittens and one homely one -free!" They took one kitten at a time to a supermarket parking lot and held up the sign. When questioned, they explained that the cute ones had been taken and this was the one that was left. One kitten at a time was gone in a matter of two hours. |

well, john, it just so happens that we now only have one kitten left to adopt out! so, that just may work. my husband has plans to take this last little guy to an upcoming adopt-a-thon, but if anyone knows of someone willing to open his or her heart to a little guy in desparate need of love and affection, simon is still searching for a home. |
