A Rhodesian Ridgeback dog (male named Jesse) was lost yesterday Sunday June 4th up in the South Mountain Reservation. As per the owner the dog is wearing tags and friendly. Call the number on the tag the dog is wearing or call the police departement in your town.

Picture of a Rhodesian Ridgeback but not JESSE: Note the ridge (hair growing the reverse direction) in the top of their back.

Joy and I were up there yesterday and ran in to Jesse's "parents" shortly after they lost him. We kept our eye out but didn't see him. Thought for sure he would have been found by now. Sorry to hear he hasn't been. Jesse's "dad" says they've been going up there for 6 years and nothing like this has ever happened before.

Will keep my fingers crossed.

Should have used a leash.

That was pretty obnoxious. How do you know the dog wasn't on a leash? Maybe the leash slipped out of the person's hand? I know it's happened to me when I've walked friends' dogs.

Bajou-
What a beautiful dog. Any luck finding him? I'm sure all the usual places were contacted, right? Please keep us informed.

Well I must admit that I’m assuming here, but Birds of a feather. Considering Bajou feels she does not need to follow the laws set out to keep dogs and people safe, I’ve assumed that her friends also feel they can do whatever they want. If I am incorrect I will admit it.

And considering Bajou is such and expert on dogs, I’m sure the first thing that would have been mentioned was that the leash is also connected to the dog.

Amazing 6 years and it never happend before? No wonder there are leash laws.

Brett - I saw the owners on Sunday searching for their dog. I may be wrong but I think the dog slipped his leash when he saw a deer. This can happen with big dogs, my greyhound did that and it was terrifying. Luckily he turned up OK and I'm sure I may have the same challenge with my wolfhound. I hope Jesse turns up OK.

I hope Jesse turns up OK also. I just question Bajou's know it all, tactics. Bajou's dog does not need to be leashed. Bajou knows all about crate training. Bajou is the foremost scholar on dogs.

Wait, slipped his leash, but the collar remains? Parker's leash is connected to his collar; the only way to get it off is to rip it over his head.

I saw a similar looking dog Sunday night near Flood's Hill (I think) without the collar. I remember seeing the dog and that it had no collar, I'm just not sure where I saw him.

I'm not sure why you have the opinion you do of Bajou; maybe I missed something. But I have to say if you only know her from her posting online you have the wrong impression of her.

I first met her many, many years ago when she first came to this country and began dating, then married one of my childhood friends. She has not only raised two very well rounded, nice kids, she's done it by working several jobs at a time to support them. She also a LOT of volunteer work helping animals and others.

She went to New Orleans after the hurricane to help rescue animals separated from their loved ones because of her knowledge of dogs! She's active with helping people train their dogs. She knows a lot about dogs! I know a lot of people would consider her an 'expert.' Did you know she was recently honored as "Villager of the Month?"

Why would you think she doesn't feel 'the need to follow the laws set out to keep dogs and people safe?' Sometimes a leash slips out of the hand holding it. Accidents do happen.
