I have two lovely, expensive winter parkas that will not fit my children next season. So I thought it would be a good idea to sell them at Milk Money. Problem is, they both have dirt around the wrist and zipper areas that I can't get out. I doused them in Shout and machine-washed with lots of soap -- twice. No luck. Any suggestions?

What color are they? I soaked silvery gray & yellow parkas in a bleach water solution overnight and it really helped and didn't fade the color.

Mine were old Navy & Gap if that makes a difference.

With a darker color I might try an Oxy clean solution.

I know this sounds weird, but spray with shout and rub in, then put them in the bath (too big for a bucket!) with oxyclean (a good amount) and lots of hot water and leave them until the water gets cold....... I do it for things that nothing else has worked for, taken them straight to the washing machine after that, and either by luck or design, they all come out like new...I never use bleach so this is my stain removal technique..

I haven't ruined anything yet by doing that, but I have saved a lot of kids clothes that I thought they would never wear again due to a bad stain etc.

Good luck!!

Try Zout instead of shout. Rub it in with a brush.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll try it all! VIG: One jacket is bright yellow (Lands' End). The other is pink and gray (Columbia).

You can soak them in the washing machine instead of the bathtub! Much easier.

Once the machine fills with hot water just turn it off...the water won't drain out until you turn it on again.
